Paper Chains & "Chinese" Christmas Lantern Decoration...

Holly

Your computer has a part to play in Christmas preparations ...

Your kids will enjoy helping to make these... Lanterns

You will need a "Paint" or "DTP" type program, festive thread, glue, scissors & glitter or sequins.

Open an A4 sized canvas in your "Paint" program and fill it with coloured stripes or a "Fill" or "Gradient" & print several copies.

Paper Chains: Cut the printed paper into 2cm strips widthways; decorate with glitter and/or sequins if required. Stick or staple first strip into a loop, (decorated side out,) pass the second strip through it, then stick or staple this into a loop, etc. etc. to form a bright & beautiful chain!

Chinese Lanterns: Fold into quarters and cut. Then cut a 1cm strip from the short side of each quarter - this will be the handle. Fold each quarter in half lengthways, then make cuts from the fold to about half a centimetre from the edge, about half a centimetre apart all the way across. Roll into a cylinder, align centre folds & glue; then press down gently so it bows out in the middle. Glue or staple the handle on and decorate with glitter and/or sequins, then staple the handles onto the thread at regular intervals & hang.

Chains Simple & effective...
